Leland F. Schneider - December 28, 2004

Leland F. Schneider, 79, of 127 Cedar Lane, Minonk, died at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

His mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Minonk, with Father Robert Gilles officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minonk Ambulance Fund or to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Minonk.

He was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Minonk Township, Woodford County, the son of John J. and Rose Hindert Schneider Sr. He married Joan Janssen on Dec. 28, 1978, in Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald (Judy) Schneider, Bloomington; and Tom Schneider, Atlanta; two stepsons, Jim (Cindy) Janssen, Minonk; and Bill (Christine) Janssen, Watseka; one stepdaughter, Mary Kipp Janssen, Normal; two sisters, Emily Schneider, Minonk; and Mary Gebhart, Benson; four brothers, Louis (Dorothy) Schneider, Flanagan; U.J. (Ruth) Schneider, Henderson, Nev.; Jim Schneider, Benson; and Frank (Mabel) Schneider, Paradox, Colo.; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Diane and Teresa Schneider; one stepdaughter, Sue Ann Janssen; and three brothers, Edmund Schneider, Francis "Ollie" Schneider and John Schneider Jr.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Minonk.

He was a member of the Minonk Knights of Columbus Council 985, where he was a past Grand Knight and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Bloomington.

He was a lifelong resident and farmer in the Minonk area.
